Momentum

When Nick Vujicic was born in Melbourne, Australia in 1982, his mother refused to hold him. Not out of cruelty — out of shock. Her son had been born with tetra-amelia syndrome, an extremely rare condition that left him without arms or legs.

"My mother didn't see me for four months," Nick recalls. "She had to grieve the child she expected before she could love the child she had."

"I asked God, 'Why didn't you give me arms and legs?' And eventually I realized: my lack of limbs became my message."

The Darkest Moment

At age 10, Nick tried to drown himself in the bathtub. The bullying had become unbearable. The questions without answers had piled too high. He saw no future for himself.

But something stopped him. He thought of his family. He thought of his parents finding him. And in that moment, he made a choice to live.

"That was my turning point," he says. "I decided that even if I couldn't understand my purpose, I would search for it."

Finding Purpose in Pain

Nick learned to write with his foot. He learned to swim. He learned to surf. He graduated college with a double major in accounting and financial planning. And then he started speaking.

Today, Nick has spoken to over 3 million people in more than 60 countries. His organization, Life Without Limbs, has reached hundreds of millions through social media. He is a husband, a father of four, and a beacon of hope for anyone who has ever felt like giving up.

The Message

"I may not have hands to hold my wife," Nick says, "but I can hold her in my heart. I may not have legs to walk with my children, but I can guide them through life."

His message is devastatingly simple: if he can find joy without limbs, what's stopping you from finding joy with your challenges?

"Fear is the biggest disability of all," Nick often says. "And unlike mine, it's one you can overcome."

His story reminds us that our greatest limitations can become our greatest gifts — if we choose to see them that way.

This is momentum without limit.
